I was born on June 30, 1952, in a village named San Jose de Sur, situated on the island of Ometepe. The beauty of the landscapes of Ometepe, the beauty of its flora and fauna, influenced my artistic development from my girlhood to the present. I learned to paint the nature around me just as I perceived it - the trees, the flowers, the animals, the farms, the people and their costumes. I discovered later that my painting is primitive - that is to say, naïve, natural. It is not derivative in style or dependent upon sophisticated techniques. Nonetheless, my painter’s soul continues to search for new forms and new techniques. That is to say, I am constantly renewing the way I work so that I am no longer painting just the forms that I see, but also those forms produced by my imagination, according to the modern fashion.
