This has enabled him to convey reality freely, to Portray realities inspired in simple, ordinary elements of everyday life, of nature, all of which, in their broader and richer form of expression, compose his oeuvre. He highlights vegetation, reaffirming the fruitfulness and productivity of his land. Robelo was born in Nicaragua; he was raised in Managua, where he spent his childhood. During his early youth he immigrated to the United State, and since then the has lived in Miami. Robelo’s paintings render scenes from everyday life in his home country, a country that lives within him and is never too far. His words make these recollections vibrate and remain forever inhis memory. They are oneiric chronicles of his native country, in which he dwell some aspects he wishes to highlight as an allegory of the hart work that has fallen to his lot. Their elements interlock, not in order to escape from the game of reality and become a more decorative refinement, but jto present to us. Through a harmonious stylization, an artwork with a primitive essence accompanied by a profound peace. This peace is born from the evidence that results in the recognition of the simplicity of things, and this is the major aspect leading to the enrichment of his oeuvre. We might consider it an objective proposed by the artist himself. Thus he has achieved a surrealist figurative, primitive composition, where we can appreciate an assurance in the combinations, elegantly crating a precise joyful, harmonious connection. We begin to understand that, a he executes his work, a painter may suggest a casual elegance; besides, we become aware that in Robelo’s pictures there is complete control concerning that way in which the brush strokes are applied: They are generously loaded with watery colors and rapidly distributed on the canvas, taking great care that they may be as clean and nitid as possible; then artist focuses on the textures, restoring to naural materials such as sand. Robelo ha studied his materials and different methods to apply them: with the main aim of attaining the greatest possible control in manipulating them, and thus make the most of his technique and at the same time express or convey his message adequately. And in order to have a clearer notion of this message or this expression, I will mention what Robelo has told us about his work: “ For the work I carry out at my studio, I utilize different techniques; in the same way one chooses the most appropriate word to express oneself; there is a constant feature, which I would define as the poetics. It is a question of a completely subjective nature. It implies entering the field of atmosphere, of the imponderable Atmospheres pervading- at some place in time, in a moment and forever that which I believe to be the substance of art: for example, the subtle light of a sunset, the outline of a forest greenery faking Into the mist, the moment preceding dawn on the river. These images are not entered in silence; they are accompanied by a music and a rumor. My work is the reflection of a mystical land inhabited by suspended being, dangling between reality and fantasy, manipulated in the limited space of a canvas, where these faceless figures struggle to be seen; they spend hour after hour suspended in their inner world, finally in the direction of realize that the only reality lies in their shadows stained with color, in which every hue reflects the word of the inhabitants of silence. These characters, which ate soul of my painting who constantly pervade with oils, the milieu where to remain silent and observe, is the only way to hear a scream suffocated by the silence under the cords that rule their destiny”.
